Do not assume that a 48V battery can replace a 36V pack or that a 52V pack is a safe “upgrade” to every 48V Bafang system. Some components are offered in multiple-voltage versions, but the specific installed version and firmware still need confirmation.

3. Confirm the display or HMI

6. Verify connector, polarity and wiring

Check the wiring diagram and pin assignment, not just the plug shape. Similar connectors can use different polarity or communication pins. Never connect a new battery based only on wire colour, and never reverse polarity while testing.

Adapters add another connection and possible failure point. Where an adapter is necessary, it must have the correct voltage and current rating, secure contacts, strain relief and verified polarity. Use a competent e-bike technician if any wiring change is required.

7. Measure the battery case and mount
