VIPCOO H3 Battery & Charging Cost UK: 48V 23Ah Explained

VIPCOO H3 electric dirt bike with its 48V 23Ah battery system

The VIPCOO H3 has a listed 48V 23Ah battery, equivalent to approximately 1,104 watt-hours (1.104kWh) of nominal energy. At an illustrative electricity rate of 25p/kWh, a full nominal recharge works out at about 31p if charging is 90% efficient. Your actual cost depends on your tariff, how empty the battery is and charging losses. This is a calculation, not a measured charging test.

Prepared by E Bike Market. Specifications and listed price checked 21 October 2026. We sell the models discussed; performance figures are supplier claims, not independent test results.

The VIPCOO H3 electric dirt bike is listed at £1,099 at the time of writing. Before buying, consider whether its battery, charging routine and 57kg listed weight work for your home and riding plans. It is intended for suitable private land with permission, not ordinary public-road or cycle-path use.

What does 48V 23Ah mean?

Voltage and amp-hours describe different parts of the battery specification. Multiplying them gives a useful nominal energy comparison: 48 × 23 = 1,104Wh. That is 1.104kWh. Amp-hours alone are not enough to compare batteries with different voltages, and nominal energy is not a promise that every watt-hour will be available in use.

A higher-capacity battery can store more energy, but it does not establish range by itself. Speed, acceleration, hills, surface, temperature and rider load change energy consumption. Battery energy also does not prove charger or replacement-battery compatibility.

How much does it cost to charge a VIPCOO H3?

Use this planning formula: cost in pounds = 1.104kWh ÷ charging efficiency × electricity price in pounds per kWh. For the examples below, efficiency is assumed to be 90%. This allows for energy lost during charging; it is not a measured efficiency figure for the H3.

Illustrative unit rate Nominal recharge at 90% efficiency Four such recharges per week
20p/kWh £0.25 £0.98
25p/kWh £0.31 £1.23
30p/kWh £0.37 £1.47

These are deliberately illustrative tariffs, not current UK price-cap figures. Use the unit rate on your electricity bill. Weekly totals are calculated before rounding. Standing charges, battery replacement, maintenance and equipment are excluded. A partial top-up generally uses less energy than a full recharge, so do not deliberately flatten the battery to match this example.

How long does the H3 take to charge?

The current H3 listing gives approximately 7–9 hours from empty. Actual time depends on the starting charge, temperature, battery condition and the supplied charger. Follow the manual and charger instructions for the exact unit. A quoted charge time is not a reason to leave a battery charging while asleep.

Plan a charging period when you can remain present and alert. Use the supplied charger or a replacement specifically authorised by the manufacturer. Do not buy a generic charger simply because its plug fits or it is advertised for a 48V battery.

Is the battery removable?

The H3 listing specifies a removable battery with a key lock. That can help with charging and secure storage, but check the removal procedure and clearance in the supplied manual. The complete bike is listed at approximately 57kg; a removable pack does not make the whole machine easy to carry upstairs.

Before ordering, plan ground-level storage, the route through doors or gates, a safe charging position and transport to your permitted riding area. If a measurement is critical, contact E Bike Market for confirmation before purchasing.

What range should I plan for?

The published H3 range is 40–70km, approximately 25–43 miles. Treat it as a supplier estimate, not a minimum guaranteed distance. Even the lower figure can be missed in demanding conditions. Start with short familiar sessions, retain a reserve, and learn the consumption of your own bike and riding conditions before planning longer outings.

Do not divide the maximum advertised range by charging cost and treat the answer as a verified cost per mile. The calculation would combine a theoretical recharge with an unverified riding result. Our battery-energy and range guide explains the assumptions in more detail.

H3 or H3 Ultra: compare energy, not just amp-hours

The supplied H3 Ultra configuration listed by E Bike Market is 74V 36Ah: approximately 2,664Wh. That is about 2.41 times the H3’s nominal energy. It does not establish 2.41 times the riding range, because the bikes differ in weight, power and use. Read the H3 versus H3 Ultra comparison before paying for capacity you may not need.

Charging and storage checks

  • Follow the supplied manual and use the correct charger.
  • Charge away from escape routes and combustible materials; do not cover the battery or charger.
  • Allow a hot battery to cool before charging. Avoid extreme temperatures and damp charging locations.
  • Stay awake and present while charging, then unplug when complete.
  • Stop using damaged, swollen or unusually hot batteries and seek professional advice. Do not open or modify the pack.

Read the government battery-safety guidance and London Fire Brigade charging guidance. These explain general lithium-battery precautions; the H3’s own instructions remain essential.

Frequently asked questions

Is the H3 battery 1.1kWh?

Approximately: 48V multiplied by 23Ah gives 1.104kWh of nominal energy. Usable energy and electricity drawn at the socket will differ.

Can I leave the H3 charging overnight?

Do not leave it charging while asleep or unattended. Arrange charging around the supplied instructions and a period when you are awake and present.

Does the lowest speed mode make the H3 road legal?

No. It is not sold as a compliant pedal-assist EAPC. A reduced speed setting does not establish compliance. See the official electric-bike rules.
