Throttle and public-road use in Great Britain
A 250W label or 25km/h setting alone does not establish EAPC compliance. The complete cycle must have usable pedals, no more than 250W maximum continuous rated motor power, an assistance cut-off at 15.5mph, and the required markings and safety equipment. Walk assist limited to 3.7mph (about 6km/h) is outside the throttle type-approval requirement. A twist-and-go cycle introduced after 1 January 2016 that can propel itself without pedalling beyond walk-assist speed requires type approval or individual approval, even if it meets the EAPC power and speed limits. An approved twist-and-go EAPC can still be treated as a pedal cycle; a throttle does not automatically make every bike unlawful.
Using pedal assist, avoiding the throttle or choosing a lower display setting does not establish compliance. Department for Transport guidance also treats cycles with a selectable mode capable of motor propulsion above 15.5mph as motor vehicles. Where the supplied configuration or required approval has not been verified, do not use the bike on public roads or cycle paths as an ordinary EAPC. Use only on suitable private land with permission unless the applicable road-use requirements are met. Read the official EAPC and throttle guidance.
The Aairsk SU7 is a compact 24-inch electric bike with a 250W motor, 36V 13Ah battery, front suspension and Shimano 7-speed gearing. £499 with free delivery from £50 to England, Scotland and Wales.
Held in UK stock, so there's no import wait and no customs charge when it arrives — typically 3–5 working days, often faster.
How fast does it go?
Assistance cuts out at 25km/h (15.5mph), the UK legal limit for an electrically assisted pedal cycle. You can pedal faster under your own effort; the motor simply stops helping past that speed.
How far will it go on a charge?
The 36V 13Ah battery gives an estimated 30–40km (19–25 miles) on throttle alone, or 40–60km (25–37 miles) with pedal assist. Pedalling alongside the motor makes a real difference to how far you get.
Hills, cold weather, tyre pressure and rider weight all reduce range, so plan against the lower figure. A full charge takes around 5–6 hours.
How long will the battery last?
Expect several hundred full charge cycles — typically around 500–800 for a lithium-ion pack — before capacity noticeably drops, which is several years for most riders.
Avoid leaving it flat or sitting at 100% for weeks, and charge it indoors rather than in a freezing shed.
Why 24-inch wheels?
This is the SU7's main point of difference. Smaller wheels lower the standover height and make the bike easier to handle and store, which suits shorter riders or anyone keeping a bike in a hallway or small flat. The trade-off is slightly less roll-over ability on rough ground compared with a 26-inch wheel.
If you want a full-size wheel instead, look at the GT300 or Q7.
Is it road legal in the UK?
Road-use compliance has not been verified for the exact supplied configuration. A 250W rating and 25km/h setting alone are insufficient: throttle behaviour, maximum continuous motor rating, selectable modes and any required vehicle approval must also be checked. Do not use this bike on public roads or cycle paths as an ordinary EAPC unless those requirements are confirmed.
It's supplied with a twist throttle, and throttle operation is where legality depends on the delivered configuration. Check the current GOV.UK EAPC rules before riding on public roads.
